"Lakshmi" Flow of Prosperity

I am constantly being asked, “why Mandalas?”

What is it that attracts you to them? and what is a Mandala?

We see mandalas as a way if expression not only a visual artistic expression but also as deeply spiritual way of understanding our inner selves.

We can use them as a tool for reflection, healing and self awareness, and a tool for organisation and self management. Many companies are utilizing mandala management systems for success around the world.

I have been creating mandalas as a healing, motivational and empowering tool for people for 15 years.
I also facilitate workshops to assist people in understanding themselves and the important role mandalas can have in today’s modern world. To attend a workshop click here

The word Mandala is Sanskrit for “circle.”or “disc”

To view or create a Mandala I always start at the centre  or “bindu” Sanskrit meaning point dot or small particle.

Also know as  “bindi”
The colored dot worn on the center of the forehead, originally by Hindus and Jains from the Indian subcontinent. Along with many other cultures and and countries.

It is also described as “the sacred symbol of the cosmos in its un-manifested state” The centre of the universe, the seed, the beginning, the spark, or the rising sun, the beginning of a thought or an idea.

It is significant also as it is seen as a direct link to the Third Eye or Brow Chakra  known as “Ajna “
Many believe that this is the point of the witness the eye that views all that we are.

"Although I am always thinking and acting in a regular and habitual way.
"I" am always the observer, the witness to myself"

Look at a Mandala from the centre

See it as the seed, then allow that seed to grow and expand as it makes way for the infinite possibilities.

A brief Meditation
  • Imagine yourself sitting in a peaceful place, eyes closed and relaxed, on opening your eyes you see the sun is about to rise.
  • See that speck of light on the horizon.
  • This is the seed of the new day.
  • Now allow your awareness to expand out as you take in all that there is to see, the sky above, clouds, the earth under you and everything in your peripheral, left right up and down etc.
  • Allow all of your senses to come into that experience.
  • You may begin to realise that what you are seeing is in fact a circle or circular.
You are visually a mandala

As you view the world through your own senses.
Realise that you are all that you See, Feel, Smell,Touch, Taste and experience is "your unique universe"

The creation of a mandala is a process that is guided by intuition

When I begin to create a mandala I always have an intention for the mandala, whether it is a specific word or idea. (see  the mandala to the right called influence)

Or a mandala for someone else, where I am present with their intention or purpose as I create.
To learn more about personalised mandalas go to my contact page and send me a message.

The first part is what I call the technical phase, compass, protractors, rulers and pencils. Always guided by my intuition.

Then the spiritual, deep intuition kicks in and the mandala grows organically, taking on a life of its own.
I often lose myself in the process, or feel the presence of the person I am creating for sitting with me as I create.

In one case I walked out of the room to take some time out, only to return later, see what I had created and burst into tears for no reason.

The expanding universe

As we grow a mandala there are many aspects that unfold:
  • Colour, each colour has a vibration or frequency. Look at the colours if the rainbow for instance, Red, Orange, Yellow Green, Blue, Violet and Indigo. These colours also correlate with the Chakra colours and they also are the notes in the music scale A B C D E F G.
  • Contrast, some colours work in harmony and other colours are disharmonious. Traditionally pink and orange just didn’t go together. I find contrast can evoke an emotive response. What response do you see red and black together, or blue and white, or orange, purple and green.
  • Shape, triangles, square, pentagons and hexagons etc.  Each having a relevant energy and influence on your mandala.
  • Flowers, leaves and natural features.
  • Traditional symbols and text
There are hundreds of publications out there, all giving their meanings to Colour, Contrast and Shape, I prefer to allow the individual to interpret meanings based on their model of the world.
